Boxing Day Swim 2006

It was a chilly Boxing day morning when a group of club members, Mike Voyzey,Tori Voyzey,Tony Dunn,Peter Barnes,John Mark, and Dave Cobbett met on Porthpean Beach along with a large number of locals for the annual swim in the sea. Since the sailing season ended we had forgotten how cold the sea gets in winter !!!. A large crowd gathered to watch the brave (foolhardy ?) swimmers run into the water. The coastguard 4x4 was on hand to sound it's sirens for the big rush. The sea thankfully was calm and the tide in,so, the event went well. After the swim, members and families went back to the clubhouse for hot drinks and mince pies,This helped beat off the hypothermia !!. As this is a local annual event we might see even more turn out next year. Tony Dunn reporting.
