Porthpean Sailing Club |
Fortunately for us the sailing season finished last weekend, & what a contrast we had from our last sail only a week ago to the very wet & windy weather that greeted us for the prize giving & dinner. Tony Dunn, our Social Secretary, decided on a change of venue & booked us in to the Bosun’s dinner at Charlestown, and what a great evening we had.
The ladies in particular looked very glamorous in their finery, even us guys looked the business in either dinner jackets or suits. Our younger members were all dressed appropriately, looking very smart indeed. The meal was excellent and the service equally as good. Tony arranged a disco for the after dinner entertainment, which again turned out just right, both in volume & choice of music to please every one. In fact the overall ambience was just right. Unfortunately we were slightly down on numbers from previous years, with quite a few of the regulars missing. Just over 50 of us sat down for the meal, which was followed by the prize giving. Prizes were presented by the ever glamorous Jenny March.
A raffle followed and we are still looking for Hazel Mark’s lost tickets. Hazel thinks she won a nice bottle of wine, alas we may never know but the missing ticket number was 76. I know that because I had number 75, which was rather frustrating for me as well being so near, yet so far away. At least I still had my ticket, though being one number out was as close as I got to winning. The 100 Club was also drawn, & again a prize for John Hill, full results on the front page of the web.
Below is a selection of photographs that I took on the night. There may be more to follow if I am sent others, though it takes literally hours to put this page together, so just wait & see. These pictures have been cut down in resolution to allow them to load at a reasonable speed, but if anybody wants better quality ones then get in touch & I will email the 6M pixel versions.
