Group photo before we set off

The annual Club Walk arranged by our Social Secretay Tony Dunn, took us this year on a circular tour around the Dodman Point. 26 members & 4 dogs met in the car park at Gorran Haven at 10.15 ready for a 10.30 start. We all posed for the usual photograph before we set off, wandering down through the sleepy village and then heading off up the steep cliff path onto the headland.
Fortunately we were blessed with fine weather, though it was very cloudy but almost windless and as such was fairly mild. We followed the contours of the cliff path going up & down, through countelss kissing gates until we eventually all gathered at the Dodman Cross. A Cross that was erected in 1896, which was promptly followed by 2 shipwrecks!! Anyway today was very peaceful & there were no signs of any shipping either. Looking westards, we could see the Nare head with Portscatho gleaming in the distance with the headland sheltering Falmouth just visible in the distance. Looking northwards, we could see all the way up to Fowey. After a suitable rest and a test to make sure that mobiles worked we resumed the walk which took us back through farmland to eventually emerge back into Gorran Haven, which culminated in a short trek back to the car park where weary bodies changed into more comfortable footwear.
A short car ride took us to the Lawnroc hotel where we gratefully sat, had lunch & more importantly a pint. It was so mild that quite a few of us sat outside in the gardens to eat & drink and chelp to celebrate what was Pete Barnes annual birthday.
