2013 Christmas Party
December 6th

Last Friday was party night at Porthpean; a well-attended evening, at which everyone seemed intent on having fun. A special thanks must go to Tony Dunn, who spread the word beyond the territory of the Chimp. Jason, of the Black Kat Disco, soon assessed his audience and pitched the volume at a level that allowed conversation.

The American supper table spoke of affluence and looked like a supper fit for kings. Our worthy Bar Manager (Steve Coello) supplied a cask of ale fit for discerning beards. Good ale soon released any reticence towards singing karaoke. Tony began the evening with Cliff Richard's "Living Doll" - a fitting tribute to Lynn. One or two of us were overwhelmed with emotion, judging by the tears in some people's eyes. It was as if he and Lynn had planned to 'knock 'em dead'. Lynn's rendition of Bjork's 'It's Oh so Quiet' will go down in the annals of Porthpean history. Linda Hill, Nigel Dowrick, Dave Cobbett and many more, all rocked the house. The evening rounded off with the funniest Nelly the Elephant dance, which confirmed my long-held belief that Porthpean is a playground for grown-up kids.
