2015 Christmas Party
December 12th

It’s party time!! Our normal format of dinner and prize giving has been given a makeover this year. It had been noted that our usual numbers at Prize dinners have been tailing off over the years and as a wish to make changes the Committee decided to change the format to have a separate party night and prize giving night. Whether this will be classed as a success or not will be open to debate. Nevertheless 28 Club Members assembled at the Porth Avallen Hotel, for one of their party nights. We sat down early for the meal, and then without the necessity of presenting prizes the dancing started earlier than normal. Once a few drinks had been consumed, shyness disappeared and at some time or other most people took to the floor to demonstrate their party pieces in preparation for next year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

We also shared our evening with the Clay Area medical practices so the total numbers increased to about 70 in all which gave a little more ambience to the evening and encouraged some of our more reticent members to get up and boogie. The DJ for the night was Matthew Shepherd from Radio Cornwall.

Thanks go to our genial Social Secretary Tony Dunn for organising the evening. I noticed that Tony was kept busy by the constant stream of people visiting his table to enquire if he had a list of what they had ordered to eat. Fortunately, said list was in Tony’s pocket which proved a great help to all.

The prize giving itself will be held in the Clubhouse on January 16th

Once again I was patrolling the floor, persuading people to pose and to commit themselves to posterity for our web site. Clicking on any picture should download an enlargement.
