2015 Dinner & Prizegiving
January 10th 2015

Another year, another dinner and prize giving night; the cycle of life at Porthpean revolves. For 2015 we ventured to another new venue for the dinner, this time to Carlyon Bay Golf Club. Our evening was planned and arranged by our out going Social Secretaries Pete & Jan.

Outside, the weather was rather cold and bleak with spots of rain coming down and it was with some relief that we all made it to the warm comforts of the Carlyon Bay Golf Club house. It’s inevitable that whenever a function is organised that some regulars are unable to make it and unfortunately this cut our numbers tonight to 41, but having said that the venue was very comfortably filled. Once again many Ladies and Gentlemen had gone to the trouble of dressing very impressively for the function of the year and a very enjoyable function it was. Our numbers were swelled somewhat when The Austins and Niles joined us at the Prizegiving stage. They arrived from a previous engagement of a 40th Birthday party and were well into the party mode when our disco burst into life.

We all sat down to a very good meal and were soon into the business end of the night the Prizegiving, which was the culmination of all the hard work and racing that we had spent 9 months of the year competing for. Over the length of a season we had experienced all sorts of conditions from cold, rainy, windy days to balmy, hot and quite tranquil days. We have had lots of laughs, some highs and lows and no doubt the cycle will be repeated again in 2015.

How many of you spotted the natty pair of blue suede shoes worn by one of our Members last night. Picture of the shoes shown below.

Thanks to Pete & Jan for organising a very enjoyable evening. Once again I was patrolling the floor, persuading people to pose and to commit themselves to posterity for our web site. Clicking on any picture should download an enlargement.
