2018 Dinner
December 8th 2018

On a wild and windy Saturday night, over 40 members and guests arrived at the Britannia Inn for the Club’s annual dinner. Winter is starting to make its presence felt with a cold, strong westerly wind blowing outside but inside it was all warmth and light and happy faces. The dinner was timed for 19.30 and on the dot we sat down and the service commenced.

Now this was the 2nd time this week that Sue & I had visited the Brit for a Christmas dinner and I was looking forward to it as our meal last Wednesday was delicious. Sure enough tonight’s meal was equally as good. Now I know that a set menu meal can be rather a plastic affair, but the Brit’s set menu is a cut above the average and I don’t think anyone was disappointed with the quality nor quantity.

The evening seemed to pass in a bit of a blur and as we had a private room there was plenty of time for some socialising after the meal. There was a lot to catch up on as some of us hadn’t seen some people for a whole week!! However there was a good sprinkling of new members and guests and I think we all integrated well and eventually everyone departed for home happy and contented.

Once again we give our thanks to Tony for organising a superb event. He has spent a lot of time behind the scenes chivvying various people up for deposits, and final payments and having to deal with all the permutations of meals that people wanted.

I managed to move round the room taking a few snaps of our snazzily dressed members, looking far more smarter than in their normal attire as seen at the Club over the past year. Yes shorts and tee shirts are consigned to the wardrobes for a few months yet.

Christmas is very close now and our first social of the New Year will be on January 26th when we will be having the 2018 Prizegiving, where the lucky ones will be rewarded for their hard endeavours over the year.
