Sausages, Chips & Beans + Quiz
Saturday night October 19th 2019

What to do in mid October when the night's are drawing in ? Organise a club social evening. Notice was given that it would be a casual meal and quiz and so it turned out to be. I got to the club early and with the help of Colin set to in the galley to cook the sausages, chips and beans. Both ovens and microwave were put into action and soon the club was filling with folk who wanted a good evening out. Lynn had set the tables and with others to help, the food was delivered to the waiting crowd.
Once the main course had been eaten, ice creams were given out . The bar was doing a good trade with Ken kept busy keeping the drinks flowing. Now it speaks volumes of our Social nights at Porthpean when Peter and Jenny Pope brought two guests along to join in the fun. This was especially true because Pat, a guest was celebrating her birthday that day. A rousing chorus of Happy Birthday sung by all made her feel even better ( or older ).
It was soon onto phase two of the evenings entertainment. One of my general knowledge quizzes. Teams were soon sorted and some semblance of order was formed. I try to gauge the difficulty of the questions so that everyone taking part gets involved.
Judging by the grimaces and general demeanour in the room I think I got this one just about right. After the answer sheets were checked there emerged a winning team, it was close throughout but after a tie break question the winning team (and noisiest) was “ Need More Rattler “ They won a box of assorted chocolates. In the true spirit of their win, they offered chocolates around the room to one and all.
As usual, thanks to all who helped me make the evening a success.
Below are some of the photo's I took during the evening. Click on any for enlargement.
