Hall Walk Fowey/Polruan
8th March 2020

When a club walk is arranged no matter the location, you wish for fine walking weather.
I had decided that it was about time we did the Hall Walk again. This was because it's local, not too demanding, and a chance to visit a local pub for a meal before the finish.
Before setting out for Fowey the weather was not looking good for the day.
On arrival at Readymoney Cove car park at 10.15am black clouds were gathering and within minutes we were treated to a good downpour. However, the 9 intrepid souls that turned up ready in wet weather gear for a wet walk were in for a pleasant surprise. At 10.30am the rain stopped and the sun came out. What a bonus. After the traditional group photo, we set off to walk through Fowey. We crossed the river on the Bodinnick Ferry and that's when the walking got serious. The terrain was a mixture of ups and downs. After all the rain in recent weeks we were glad that the ground under foot was not too muddy.
We had rung ahead to The Lugger Inn at Polruan and had booked our table for a Sunday lunch. Knowing that we had a deadline to meet meant that there was no slacking for our group. Pete and Jan had brought along their two dogs, who covered twice the distance that we mere mortals covered on the sometimes slippery slopes.
We eventually arrived at Polruan and after taking off our waterproof outer layers in The Lugger we sat around a large table for a well earned drink and meal. The food was first class, just what was needed after our exertions.
Getting back to Fowey was another treat on the small passenger ferry across the river.
Once back on dry land we returned to our vehicles from where we had started.
All in all another successful walk. Good walking, good company, a good day out.
Photo's below taken during the walk to show that what you have just read was the truth !
