There’s something about fish & chips that appeals to so many, and once again the attraction of a f&c supper at the Club plus a quiz gave us a well attended evening. There were about 50 Members and guests who braved yet another cold and frosty night to come down to Porthpean and helped make a very successful evening. Fernely's once again was the supplier of choice and on this performance will no doubt be the supplier next year.
Our quiz master this time was Chris Hazell and he produced a brilliant 40 question quiz, which caused the grey matter to work overtime to come up with the answers. At least this quiz gave a multiple choice of 4 possible answers, so even if you didn’t know the answer then I suppose you had a 25% chance of guessing correctly. The outright winners were Ken & Liz, a team of 2 but with Ken in your team you don’t need many other members. Their prize for showing us all up was a box of chocolates, which they well deserved especially as they spent most of the evening behind the bar. Ken was telling me that he had spent about 6 hours the night before serving behind our bar at a private party, so I think he is in need of a good rest by now.
We are now into the last week of February and hopefully we are about to see the back of this long cold winter, especially as we hope to start the sailing season in only 5 weeks time. Before that there is the Club walk, which is arranged for Sunday 21st March, when we will be exploring Lerryn.
Once again I went around terrorising everybody with my camera, but this time my apologies to all, as for some reason almost every picture is grainy & some look slightly out of focus, so overall quite poor quality. I’m not sure what the reason is but I will have to get it checked out, before the fitting out supper in only 5 weeks time.
