2011 Fish & Chip Supper
February 12th 2011

Once again the annual fish and chip supper produced another bumper turn out. Well over 50 people packed into the Clubhouse to sit, drink and chat and most importantly eat a selection of Fernley’s Fish and Chips. Every chair and table in the Clubhouse was taken and as a little extra Tony produced his own pan of mushy peas.

Traditionally we have a quiz at the supper and this time it was a 65 question thriller provided by Tony Dunn, consisting of a picture quiz, followed by 50 questions which were deliberately set to challenge even the cleverest of people. This clearly succeeded as the highest score was just over 50. The winning team was the Dowricks, with Chris Bilkey, Ken & Liz helping out. Tony kindly donated a new copy of an Oxford English dictionary, which was awarded to Catherine Dowrick.

The f&c supper is usually the first social event of the season and will be followed in only 2 weeks time by the Club walk, around Mount Edgecombe. Then in only another 3 weeks it will be the fitting out supper on March 26th, the night the clocks spring forward. Even now the days are noticeably getting lighter and the new sailing season is only 6 weeks away.

I trawled round the room with my camera again, taking a few shots for posterity, but don’t you find it quite frightening, when you look back over some earlier years and see how some of us are aging!!
