2013 Fish & Chip Supper
February 16th 2013

When there are only a few weeks to go before the season starts then it usually means that we must be closing in on the annual F & C supper. Tonight it finally arrived, midway between the laying up dinner and prize giving night and the fitting out supper, which will herald the start of the 2013 sailing season. Once more we were treated to a very good attendance with over 35 sitting down to a feast of Fish & Chips, followed by a choice of cakes for a sweet.

Last year, you may remember, it was a very cold and icy evening when we gathered down at the Club to enjoy this annual feast, but tonight, the weather for a change was quite different and it was reasonably mild. The day itself had been quite spring like, with plenty of sun all day raising the temperature and despite a light south easterly breeze quite a few people walked Porthpean beach and surrounding footpaths. The beach itself looked very benign and peaceful after what has been a very wet and cold winter. As we are still in February I can certainly say that we are not out of the woods just yet, but these first signs of spring are very encouraging, especially when the increasing daylight hours are more noticeable.

Tonight after the fish & chips we were treated to a quiz with a difference by Anna. Mid way through the 20 questions we played a game of nautical bingo, which was well received especially when we were told after the game that we could eat the jelly beans which had been used for counters to cover up the bingo squares. The overall winners of the quiz were James, Finn, Jenny & Peter.
