I suppose with the Sunday work parties in full swing and February rushing by we could almost call the Fish & Chip supper the start of the 2015 season, and with over 40 happy people in the Clubhouse the omens for 2015 are looking very good indeed. In fact we only have just less than 7 weeks to go before the actual racing starts again. The weather was typical F&C weather, being very cold and still wintery, not very conducive yet for stepping off the shores into our boats.
Generally the F&C supper is a very well attended night and tonight was no exception. Fernley’s chip shop once again came up trumps when 2 huge boxes of pre ordered F&C were delivered at just after 8.00pm. Tony Dunn, our Social Secretary, excelled himself by also providing a huge pan of mushy peas that helped our meals go down a real treat. After the remnants of the meal had been cleared away our glasses were refilled in time to enjoy one of Tony’s mega quizzes, with a total of 60 questions to answer. It was no surprise to see that once again the team with Ken in it win it. Not only that but Paddy, who I believe is a regular attendee at quizzes, was also in the winning team. Once again I roamed the room with my faithful pocket camera, trying to collect for posterity some of the faces and clicking on any picture should produce an enlargement. |
