Regatta Party Night 2004

What a fantastic night the Regatta party turned out to be. There were over 80 members, guests and visitors, who dined on an exquisite BBQ, which was followed by a live band called “High Tide”.

A decision was taken a few weeks earlier to pull out all the stops and try and put on a really good event. Our previous socials this year have been well attended, but this one topped the lot. This year the decision was taken to share a regatta with Pentewan Sands SC over a 2-day meeting. Saturday night was deemed to be party night and what a party it turned out to be. Rarely has the Clubhouse been so packed apart from National Championships. Ages ranged from young tackers of 5 & 6 to some of the more senior members. People rarely seen with dancing shoes on quickly took to the floor to the accompaniment of the group. Their music was MOR pop & blues, easy on the ear, yet infectious for those wanting to sing and dance.

Thanks go to Kay & Gary for the main organising, Chris Hazell for recommending the group, Brian Phillips, Steve & Sharron Coello and Pete Barnes who I think were the main chefs, although I did see some others in aprons at times. Sterling work was done by Lynne Cobbet, in the kitchen, who was ably helped by several other members. Jenny Pope who managed to ring almost the entire Club Membership chivvying up Members who were undecided about coming and a special thanks to all Members and guests whose presence made the evening the success it was. Below are a few photographs taken during the evening.
