Club Walk February 27th 2005

The Club walk in 2004 was an inland walk and just for a change this year we chose another inland walk!! The walk, again, was chosen by Peter & Janet and the venue this time was Luxulyan Valley, well part of it. We met at the car park at Pontsmill, this particular area has a lot of history surrounding it. There are old china clay ruins, with the remnants of old railways dotted around, amazingly most of the relics are in isolated areas, so many of the workers had to travel quite a distance to reach their place of work. Once again we were very lucky with the weather. We had wall to wall blue sky, which had left a sharp overnight frost. We also had a bitterly cold easterly wind, fortunately we were sheltered from the wind so the walk turned out to be very pleasant. Unfortunately we were down in numbers from previous years, which was a shame as the hardy soles who turned up thouroughly enjoyed the walk which for some was a new area to walk in. Altogether the walk took about an hour & a half, which was long enough to drum up thirsts and appetite, which made the conclusion, a trip to the pub at Lanlivery most enjoyable.

In summary, Pete & Janet provided us with a very scenic walk, that was not too long nor too arduous. Thank you very much.
